December 14th, 2020; The Third Sunday of Advent
Dear Faithful Parishioners,
One of many responsibilities of a parish administrator/pastor is to give faithful parishioners an update of parish financial report, at least once a year, according to the administration policy of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The main reason of this is to exhibit a good stewardship and accountability as well as transparency. Although the Archdiocese encourages parish administrator/pastor to do so once a year, however our Parish Finance Council has made a recommendation to make it available to the parishioners twice a year. It was recommended that every semester of the fiscal year – or every six months, our parish financial position should be disclosed to the parishioners. This year, our fiscal year was started on July 1st 2020 until June 30th, 2021, therefore our first semester of the fiscal year 2020-2021 is December 2020. Upon the recommendation of the Parish Finance Council, this fourth Sunday of Advent, I would like to present you our parish financial report, and this report is made base on the financial reconciliation of the last month, November 2020. Therefore, if there are parish incomes and other related expenses that happen after November of this year, then they will be included in the second semester report, that is in June 2021.
This year, our parish was started administratively with significant deficit due to unpaid bills and other parish related expenses. In addition, this condition also had been made worse by pandemic of Covid-19 since March 2020, in which our parish income has been extremely low and our expenses in demand were so high. Although we have gone through this situation; in one hand, we are so grateful because we have parish staffs and volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep up our parish administration in business in the middle of difficult time of pandemic. Our bookkeeper, Ms. Elizabeth Tucker, has been wisely maintaining our financial position every week. While our business manager, Ms. Matilda Dimas, has been working diligently on the parish administration with regards to the internal and external businesses. For sure, I will never forget to mention the kindness and willingness of our parish volunteers who are always available to give their time in the parish administration every day. It is because of them that our parish administration is still in good standing until today. In the other hand, as you notice in the report, unfortunately I would like to inform you that we are still in deficit and our parish income is 45% low than in the normal time prior to the pandemic. Currently our outstanding balance as of November 30th is (minus) -$19,160.43; and again, this outstanding balance cannot be recovered because we have zero dollars in the capital fund. It means that we have no savings neither certificate deposits at all. Meanwhile our total available cash for the parish ministries is $20,431.24 and we still have $24.454.16 for the building and maintenance fund.
For further information, please see our parish financial report on PDF Format bellow and if you have questions with regards to this report, you may give me a call to the office (210) 922-2136 or send your questions to my business email fathersj@stjamestheapostlesa.org and I will respond to it as soon as I am available. Your concern upon this financial report is a gift to the parish. Thank you very much.
++ Blessings,
Cor Unum et Anima Una
