Greetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Welcome to our website! On behalf of St. James Community, I extend a sincere welcome to our Faith Community. We are eager to assist and serve you. Allow me to tell you a little bit about our Church and School:
Our parish was established in 1954 and has since then touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of Catholics. Many of our Catholic brothers and sisters have been baptized and confirmed at St. James and many have received their Catholic education in our School. We are proud to say that the performance of those who attend and have attended our school is second to none.
We have a vibrant community that embraces both saints and sinners, we are here to help the sinner come to know and receive Jesus, and the saint to continue to grow in holiness. Our Church and School are home to both peace and hospitality. We have a welcoming committee that is always ready to give you orientation on joining the Church and becoming active in our community. Our arms are always open to embrace visitors from all parts of the World. If you are vacationing in San Antonio and need a Parish to attend Mass or call home, St James is just that Parish. We would be pleased to have you as a member.
Our Mission: The mission that Jesus had while on earth is now our mission as the mystical Body of Christ. What Jesus did in His physical body, we are to continue as His body, the Church. This is the essence of the New Evangelization. As members of St James Catholic Church, we believe that we have been sent by the Spirit to go out and bring new people and fallen away Catholics to Christ. We are committed to this Mission. We are here to tend to your Pastoral and Spiritual needs as we journey together to our heavenly home.
We invite you to share your talents with our Parish Community and to participate in our youth or adult ministries. We have a vibrant Middle School, Youth and Young Adult Ministries; I encourage you to send your children to join any of these Ministries. Moreover, we have summer programs like the Vacation Bible School for our Children. We have a ministry that cares for our seniors who are homebound. Our Faith Formation or CCD program is led by faithful religious instructors and volunteers who aid in preparing hundreds to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. We also have the RCIA process that receives and teaches un-baptized non Catholics who are willing to become Catholics.
Again, welcome to our community we look forward to serving you. With the help of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that 0ur Parish will continue to excel and affect the lives of many in positive ways.
May Our Mother Mary intercede for us and help us to remain faithful always.
